Interim Director · Interim Sales Manager

An experienced leader. For as long as it takes.

I join the organisation and take responsibility — for sales, marketing, customer success or the entire commercial area. Fast diagnosis, order in the processes, strategy implementation. With a decision-making mandate, not in an advisory role. And I prepare the company for the moment a permanent leader is ready — or the structure starts working without one.

Rafał Antoszewski — Interim Director

Who it is for

Recognise any of these situations?

The head of sales has left — or has to

Recruitment will take 4–6 months. The pipeline won’t wait. You need someone from Monday.

You have already replaced two and the problem remains

That is a sign the problem is not the person but the system. I come in to fix the system — and hand it over to a successor.

Succession or ownership change

The founder steps out of operations, a new board comes in, the investor wants order. You need someone neutral, with experience.

The internal candidate isn’t ready yet

You have someone promising, but it is too early for the role. I run the department and prepare them to take over.

How it works

Step by step. No surprises.

Weeks 1–3Diagnosis with a mandate

I step into the role from day one: team, pipeline, processes, customers. The first decisions come quickly, because I know what to look for.

Months 1–2Order

Priorities, sales process, forecast, meetings that produce something. People decisions if needed — after talking to the board.

Months 2–5Results

I lead the team and own the numbers. A transparent weekly report to the board: what works, what doesn’t, what I am changing.

Months 4–6Handover

I help recruit or prepare a successor. I leave when the structure works without me — that is the measure of success.

Common questions about the Interim Director role

How is an interim different from a consultant?

Mandate and accountability. A consultant advises, and someone else makes the decisions. An interim has a position, a team, a budget and owns the result. If something doesn’t work, it is my responsibility — not “a recommendation that wasn’t implemented”.

For how long?

A minimum of 3 months — below that nothing can really change. Typically 4–8 months. The goal is always the exit: when the successor is ready and the system works without me.

How much does an interim manager cost?

From €12,000 net per month, depending on scope and level of involvement. For comparison: the cost of six months without a head of sales is usually a multiple of that — in lost pipeline, people leaving and wrong decisions.

Which areas can you cover?

Sales, marketing, customer success, business development — separately or as the whole commercial area (CRO / Commercial Director). I don’t cover finance, IT or production.

Do you work on site?

Hybrid. The first weeks mostly on site — the team has to see me. Then we set the rhythm to suit the company. Base: Gdańsk, Poland; I work across Poland and remotely with teams elsewhere in Europe.
